The European Commission has proposed a supplementary budget for 1984 to ensure continued financing of the Common Agricultural Policy. The Council of Ministers accepted this with some amendments and on 3 October transmitted the draft supplementary budget to the European Parliament. The matter will be further discussed in detail by the European Parliament in the week commencing 22 October and it would be inappropriate for me to anticipate at this juncture the outcome of those discussions.
