Written Answers. - Residential Property Tax.

asked the Minister for Finance the total number of householders to whom forms for the residential property tax were sent in respect of 1983; the number from whom completed forms were returned by (a) 1 October 1983 and (b) the latest date for which figures are available.

The number of householders to whom forms for residential property tax were sent in respect of the valuation date of 5 April 1983 is estimated at 75,000. The number of householders from whom completed forms were received (a) by October 1983 is 22,000 and (b) to date is 53,330.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of cases where prosecutions have been initiated for failure to return completed forms for the residential tax by the deadline date of 1 October 1983.

At this stage no prosecutions have been initiated for penalties for failure to deliver completed returns in respect of residential property tax due on 1 October 1983. However, suitable cases for such proceedings have been selected and it is intended that these proceedings be commenced shortly.

asked the Minister for Finance the total number of persons from whom payments have been received in respect of the residential property tax for 1983, and the total amount of money received in respect of 1983 to date.

Up to 3 October 1984 the number of persons from whom payments of residential property tax have been received in respect of the valuation date of 5 April 1983 is 4,864 and the tax paid by them is £1,356,658.
