asked the Minister for Finance the current foreign borrowing level of semi-State companies; the proportion this represents of total State foreign borrowing; and the comparative situation at the end of 1973, 1977, 1980 and 1983.
Written Answers. - Foreign Borrowing.
The most recent available estimate of the outstanding foreign currency indebtedness of semi-State companies relates to end-September 1984. The information supplied sets out the level of foreign currency indebtedness of the semi-State companies at that point and gives the comparative figures for end-1973, 1977, 1980 and 1983. It also gives the foreign currency indebtedness of the semi-State companies as a proportion of State foreign indebtedness for the relevant years. Since the information requested can most conveniently be provided in the form of a tabular statement. I propose to circulate it in the Official Report.
