The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the inspector of taxes has no record of having received from the taxpayer, at any time during 1982, an application for a repayment of tax. A claim for a tax refund in respect of 1982-83, which was received in October 1983 was dealt with by way of a review of the liability on the combined incomes of the taxpayer and her husband. The review showed that insufficient tax had been deducted from the couple's earnings for that year. The inspector will now communicate directly with the taxpayer concerning the position for 1983-84.
