, Limerick East): I regret to have to say that, due to financial constraints, it is unlikely to be possible at this stage to make any substantial improvement in the present level of service at the “clinic” at Ennis or to extend it to new areas as suggested in the question.
Some additional funds will become available for legal aid as a result of the enactment of the Funds of Suitors Act, 1984. I have received proposals from various sources about the use of that money and it will be appreciated that there are competing demands for it. I hope to be able to decide soon how that money will be allocated and over what period, having regard to all the circumstances.
