Vol. 353 No. 2

Written Answers. - Staff Recruitment.

13.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism if employment agencies are being used by his Department to recruit workers on a full-time or part-time basis; if his Department or any semi-State body under the aegis of his Department have used agency staff in the past 12 months and for what grade of worker, i.e. manual, clerical, technical; and if he will state in respect of such staff over the last 12 months (a) the name of the agencies, (b) the number of staff hired, (c) the cost per head to the State and (d) the total amount paid by his Department.

My Department do not use employment agencies to recruit workers on either a full-time or a part-time basis. All recruitment to the Department is through the Civil Service Commission or the National Manpower Service.

So far as the bodies under my aegis are concerned the recruitment of workers on a full-time or part-time basis is a matter of day-to-day administration for the bodies themselves and one in which I have no function.
