Vol. 353 No. 2

Written Answers. - Staff Recruitment.

185.

asked the Minister for Communications if employment agencies are being used by his Department to recruit workers on a full-time or part-time basis; if his Department or any semi-State body under the aegis of his Department have used agency staff in the past 12 months and for what grade of worker, i.e. manual, clerical, technical; and if he will state in respect of such staff over the last 12 months (a) the name of the agencies; (b) the number of staff hired; (c) the cost per head to the State and (d) the total amount paid by his Department.

So far as my Department is concerned, the answer to the first two parts of the question is no, and the remaining parts of the question do not arise.

With regard to the semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department, recruitment methods are a matter for the bodies themselves subject to any requirements laid down in the legislation establishing them.
