Vol. 353 No. 3

Written Answers. - Aquaculture Activities.

442.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the situation in regard to aquaculture's ancillary activities such as the manufacture of tanks, pumps and hatchery equipment.

No representations have been made to me by any of the interests involved in fish farming about difficulties in procuring the necessary ancillary equipment referred to by the Deputy nor was the matter adverted to in the recent report of the sectoral development committee which examined the industry. I understand that fish farmers obtain such equipment through normal commercial channels and/or have their installations specially constructed to specification or order. The relevant equipment and material used in such installations is normally available from building and engineering suppliers.
