Vol. 353 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cork Airport.

449.

asked the Minister for Communications the estimated loss at Cork Airport in 1984; the number of passengers using the airport; and the estimated number at which the airport would break even.

I am informed by Aer Rianta that the company hopes to contain losses at Cork Airport to a figure not exceeding £400,000 in 1984, as compared to a loss of £728,000 in 1983.

Based on actual traffic performance over the first nine months of the year, Aer Rianta estimate that the number of passengers using the airport in 1984 will be of the order of 330,000. To achieve a break-even result, Aer Rianta estimate that passenger numbers would need to increase by between 50,000 and 75,000 on the current annual level.
