663 applications, involving 23,675 tonnes of beef, have been received in my Department to date under the current scheme of private storage aid. The provision of cold storage space is primarily a matter for private enterprise but my Department has had contacts with several firms about the provision of new or expanded facilities in the context of catering for intervention beef intake.
