I will be endeavouring to secure the most favourable arrangements possible for the Irish industry when negotiations on the post-1986 sugar regime get under way. My Department are in the meantime, in close touch with the representatives of beet growers and with the sugar company who through their respective community organisations are participating in the preparatory work of the EC Commission.
