Vol. 354 No. 1

Written Answers. - Reimbursement of Pension Contributions.

603.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider repaying pension contributions by way of a lump sum immediately to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

The entitlement of an employee of a health board to have her superannuation contributions returned is a matter for determination by the health board concerned in the first instance, in accordance with the relevant legislation.

It is understood from the Mid-Western Health Board that when the person concerned ceased to hold her office on 30 April 1984 she had 8.888 years of pensionable local service. Under the relevant statutory provisions which apply in her case a registered officer who resigns, with not less than five years of pensionable local service, before pension age is automatically entitled to preserved benefits and consequently forfeits any right to a return of superannuation contributions.
