Vol. 354 No. 3

Written Answers. - Revenue Commissioners Report.

604.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, in connection with the most recent annual report of the Revenue Commissioners and the table containing details of net revenue receipts and cost of administration, he will state approximately in broken-down form the cost of collection of different forms of inland revenue duties that is into income tax, VAT, residential property tax etc., these figures being given at present in a global form in that table.

The most recently published report of the Revenue Commissioners relates to the year ended 31 December 1981. It is hoped to publish the 1982 report early next year.

Detailed information of the type requested by the Deputy has not been prepared for the year 1981 but has recently been prepared for the year 1982. The 1982 material is contained in the following table. The figures contained in columns (3) and (4) of the table are subject to the reservation that they involve a high degree of estimation as much of the work of the office of the Revenue Commissioners is carried out for the purposes of more than one tax. It will be noted that the residential property tax had not been introduced in 1982.
