I assume that by automatic radio telephone service the Deputy means a public mobile radio telephone service. Bord Telecom Éireann have indicated that they propose to introduce a public mobile telephone service early next year as an extension of the existing telecommunications network, and initial discussions on this have taken place between the board and my Department. No other applications for a licence to provide such a service have been received, nor has any application for a national paging system been received by my Department. No licences for the provision of the services in question have been issued.
