Vol. 354 No. 12

Written Answers. - Government Publications Offices.

137.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider opening a Government publications office in our major cities, like the one in Dublin, in order to ensure that the public are better informed of State policies.

The present and potential volume of sales would not justify the establishment of a Government publications sale office in any other location. From a financial point of view, the substantial cost involved (for staff, premises, transport etc.) in setting up other sales outlets similar to the existing shop in Dublin would not be proportionate to the benefits to be derived.

Government publications may be purchased through booksellers in all the major cities and towns throughout the country or by post direct from the Stationery Office.
