asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will give details of the financial assistance made available by Ireland to Third World countries in 1982, 1983 and 1984; the estimated payments in 1985; and the payments of other EC countries for the same years.

Total official development assistance (ODA) from Ireland to developing countries in the years concerned was as follows:

The figures for 1982 and 1983 reflect actual disbursements; that for 1984 is the provision, as disbursement figures are not yet available.

The allocation for 1985 is £38.357 million or 0.245 per cent of GNP.

The equivalent figures for EC countries, with the exception of Luxembourg and Greece in respect of which figures are not available, for 1982 and 1983 (the latest year in respect of which figures are available) are as follows:
