Vol. 355 No. 3

Written Answers. - Mitchelstown (Cork) School Repairs.

299.

asked the Minister for Education if she will investigate the possibility of payment of a special grant to Glenahulla national school, Mitchelstown, County Cork, for new windows and to repair the heating system.

My investigations into the possibility of a grant payment to Glenahulla national school, Mitchelstown, County Cork, for new windows and repairs to the heating system indicate that my Department issued approval in principle for a new heating system to a former chairman of the school's board of management. My understanding is that work was carried out but that the school authorities are not yet in a position to claim grant payment. I am arranging for the present chairman to be contacted with a view to assisting him in processing the claim. My Department's records indicate that the question of a grant for updating the lighting installation at the school was also raised but not the provision of windows. I propose to have these matters and repairs to the heating system included in the scope of further investigations.
