Vol. 355 No. 5

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1, 8 and 3. Business will be interrupted at 3.30 p.m. today to take item No. 3 and the Order will not be resumed thereafter.

By agreement the Dáil will sit later than 9 p.m. today and not later than 12 midnight to enable the Financial Resolutions, with the exception of the general Financial Resolution, to be concluded. It is proposed that, following the budget statement of the Minister for Finance and the statements of the spokesmen of the parties in opposition, the sitting will be suspended for 30 minutes.

Has the attention of the Taoiseach been directed to the most recent outrage by members of the UDR, namely, their involvement in a kidnapping?

This does not arise on the Order of Business.

Perhaps if you hear me out, you will realise how it arises.

If the Chair is to allow a fairly long explanatory introduction, the Deputy has achieved his point and then I rule out that position.

Does the Chair object to my achieving my objective?

I would wish to see the Deputy achieving his objective but only in accordance with Standing Orders and proper procedure of the House.

I should be very happy to answer a question from the Deputy if he puts one down.

I have no complaint with the Minister for Foreign Affairs in this matter. I am asking the Taoiseach if, as a matter of urgency, he would make representations to the British Government about this organisation and press for its immediate disbandment.

That does not arise. I cannot allow it. I am sorry.
