My Department has asked the Commissioners of Public Works to prepare a sketch scheme for the proposed extension to Scoil Diarmada national school, Castledermot, County Kildare. It is understood from the commissioners that the sketch scheme is at an advanced stage of preparation and will be sent for my Department's approval in the near future. My Department are satisfied that the proposals cater adequately for the future educational needs of the area. It is normal practice however to review enrolment trends when sketch schemes are being finalised, and this review will be undertaken in the case of the Scoil Diarmada project.
