Vol. 357 No. 4

Written Answers. - Kerry School.

566.

asked the Minister for Education when new outdoor toilets will be provided in Tiernaboul national school in the parish of Killarney, County Kerry; and if she will make a statement on the matter having regard to the fact that the plans are prepared.

My Department on the recommendations of the Commissioners of Public Works on 16 January 1985 sanctioned a grant towards the cost of providing new toilets in Tiernaboul national school, Killarney, County Kerry. The proposal involved remodelling an existing surplus classroom. The school authorities did not proceed with this work and have since proposed an alternative scheme of outdoor toilets with the object of retaining the classroom in question to meet increases which they believe will occur in pupil enrolments. My Department's local inspector has been asked as a matter of urgency to investigate the position and a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible.
