Vol. 357 No. 8

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Item No. 9. Private Members' Business will be No. 26.

May I give notice of my intention to raise on the Adjournment the proposed participation by a foreign police unit in an IRA commemoration in this jurisdiction next August?

I will communicate with Deputy Kelly.

Might I ask the Taoiseach if he would confirm a specific commitment he gave here before the Easter recess that the Illegitimacy Bill would be introduced during this session?

I said the Illegitimacy Bill would be published, and it will be published in the quite near future.

The Taoiseach specifically said that the illegitimacy Bill would be introduced in the Dáil during this session when I asked him before the Easter recess.

We cannot have argument.

I am not arguing, I am simply asking him is that now changed?

The timetable for the publication of the Bill is quite advanced. The question of its introduction in the House is a matter for the House in due course.

Would the Taoiseach clarify his recent statement in Cork in connection with the rights to private property ownership as it has caused grave anxiety among people of private property.

That does not arise in this way, Deputy.

It is a serious matter under the Constitution.

I appreciate that but I hope the Deputy appreciates that the Chair is bound by Standing Orders and that he cannot allow it be raised in this way.

(Limerick West): Might I ask the Taoiseach when we can expect legislation on the control and use of animal drugs and growth promoters promised by the Minister for Agriculture last December? Can we expect it in this session?

No, I do not think so, not in this session.

(Limerick West): Is there any particular reason why not?

There are various reasons, one of which is the amount of legislation we must get through in this session.

In view of a Government statement being imminent on new terms for oil and gas exploration would the Taoiseach inform the House when this announcement will be made and if it will be made in this House.

The question of discussion in this House is a matter to be discussed between the Whips. An announcement is possible in the near future. Perhaps the Whips could make an arrangement for discussion in the House.

Will it be made over dinner in Castlemartyr?

It will be made over dinner in Kinsealy anyway.

I might remind the Taoiseach that the Minister for Energy confirmed in the House yesterday on the Order of Business that the announcement would be made in this House.

Would the Taoiseach ask the Minister for Communications to intervene in the present dispute in RTE by the Irish Managers' Association which will place live broadcasting in jeopardy and outside broadcasts——

That does not arise on the Order of Business.

May I raise it on the Adjournment?

I will communicate with the Deputy.

I give notice of wishing to raise on the Adjournment the provision of a national toxic disposal centre at Brownsbarn, Baldonnel.

I will communicate with Deputy Harney.

May I ask for the fifth time for permission, Sir, to raise on the Adjournment the question of the release of prisoners after they have served an insignificant part of their prison sentence only?

I will communicate with Deputy Tunney.

I have received notice from the Taoiseach that he wishes to make a statement under Standing Order No. 38. Statements will be allowed from the leader of Fianna Fáil and the leader of The Workers' Party in accordance with the same Standing Order.
