Vol. 357 No. 8

Written Answers. - Mayo New National School.

584.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in the planning and construction of the new national school at Ballycastle, County Mayo.

My Department's inspector in October last met the chairman of the board of management of Ballycastle national school, County Mayo, to discuss with him firstly a suggestion which had been received by my Department from local interests for the future accommodation of the school, and secondly proposals in relation to a suitable entrance to the site offered for use in the event of an entirely new building being required. In the light of the inspector's report the completion of sketch plans is being attended to and my Department hopes to be in contact with the chairman at an early date in order to reach a final decision on the proposals.
