Vol. 357 No. 12

Written Answers. - Newcastle (Dublin) Water Scheme.

567.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will, as a matter of urgency, make the necessary funds available for the provision of a water scheme for the residents in the Castlebaggot area of Newcastle, County Dublin.

I presume the Deputy is referring to a proposal to provide a public water supply scheme to serve nine houses at Newcastle which was received in my Department as part of the county council's overall small schemes programmes for 1985. The estimated cost of this scheme appears to be very high and the council have been asked to consider the possibility of the formation of a group scheme which would qualify for group water scheme grants from my Department. When the council's reply is received the matter will be considered further.
