Government net borrowing in the first quarter of 1985 amounted to £834 million. While it is not particularly meaningful to look at the borrowing on a daily basis, the figure is equivalent to £9.3 million per day on average over the 90 days of the quarter. I do not propose to make a statement on the matter.
