(Dublin North-West) asked the Minister for Justice when his Department will agree to pay compensation to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 for damages caused to his car by a Garda squad car on 3 February 1985 at Ballymun Road.

Limerick East): It is the Chief State Solicitor who acts for the State in cases of this nature and I am not in a position at this stage to comment on the question of payment of compensation. I am informed that the Garda Síochána expect that their report will be ready for transmission to the Chief State Solicitor within the next week, after which I would hope that it will be possible to respond to the applicant's claim without delay.
