The town of Drogheda Vocational Education Committee proposed to acquire three and a half acres of land, adjoining the Rathmullen Vocational School site, from Drogheda Corporation at a cost of £10,000 and sought official sanction for the transaction. Having examined the matter my Department is satisfied that the existing site is more than adequate to accommodate all necessary school amenities. For this reason, and because of the need to reserve capital resources to meet the continuing high level of demand, generally, for essential classroom accommodation, the committee has recently been informed that my Department is not in a position to fund the proposal.
