Vol. 359 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Donegal Schools.

45.

asked the Minister for Finance when a bill of quantities will be prepared in respect of Little Angels school, Letterkenny, County Donegal.

The planning of the proposed new special school at Little Angels, Letterkenny, is in the hands of an architect in private practice who has been engaged by the manager of the school.

Working drawings were submitted by the manager's architect in May 1985 but they require certain amendments which the Office of Public Works have requested.

When the revised working drawings have been submitted and found satisfactory the Office of Public Works will authorise the preparation of the bills of quantities.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason work has been suspended on the extension to Keadue national school, County Donegal; when work will recommence; and if the extension will be completed for commencement of the school term in September 1985.

The contract for the erection of an extra classroom at Keadue national school, County Donegal, is between the manager of the school and the builder. The manager is responsible for the supervision of the work and payments to the builder. The builder applied for an interim payment in respect of the work carried out and it seems that there was some misunderstanding regarding the method of payment which caused the cessation of building operations but this has now been resolved.

It is understood that work will be recommenced next week and it is expected that the new classroom will be ready when the school re-opens after the summer holidays. The Office of Public Works are arranging an appropriate grant payment to the manager in respect of the work carried out to date.
