The present estimate of the number of vehicles, by relevant category, liable for testing in the year ending 31 December 1985 is, as follows:

This estimate is based on the number of vehicles licensed at 30 September 1984. The number liable to be tested may be reduced having regard to the obsolescence of older vehicles and to the fact that certain vehicles may no longer be in use on public roads. The above figures are subject to review in the light of the results of the census of vehicles licensed at 30 September 1985.
