asked the Minister for Health if he will provide a grant for the Order of Malta Ambulance Corps to enable them to continue and expand their community work.
Written Answers. - Order of Malta Ambulance Corps.

Grants are made to the Order of Malta by the health boards in respect of services provided in their areas. Most of the Order's transport services are provided in the Eastern Health Board area which last year paid grants totalling £48,000 in respect of these services. £20,000 in grants have been paid this year to various branches of the Order of Malta from the special moneys set aside for community services of a social nature provided by voluntary bodies. Applications from some other branches are at present under consideration. A request to provide a grant to meet the costs of replacing three of the Order's ambulances is at present under consideration in my Department.
