In September 1984 a scale of fees for the provision of fixed appliance orthodontic treatment by private orthodontists on behalf of the health boards was circulated by my Department to the chief executive officers of the eight health boards. The chief executive officers may now engage the services of private orthodontists who are prepared to provide treatment in accordance with this scale of fees for eligible children requiring fixed appliance orthodontic treatment.
