Vol. 361 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Donegal Schools.

408.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed extension for Carrick vocational school; and when it is intended to start work on the project.

Approval to seek tenders for the proposed extension to Carrick vocational school was conveyed to the County Donegal Vocational Education Committee in early September and my Department now awaits hearing from the committee in the matter. The question of starting construction cannot arise for consideration until the outcome of the tender competition has been conveyed to the Department in the normal way and evaluated.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding the proposed extension to Bunbeg national school, County Donegal.

My Department is in receipt of sketch plans for the proposed extension to Bunbeg national school. While the plans are generally satisfactory from the architectural standpoint, the costings, particularly those relating to incidental works to the existing school building, appear to be excessive. The school architect has been asked to furnish further details. As soon as these have been received and considered, my Department will be in touch with the chairman of the school management board.
