Vol. 361 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 22 and 23. Private Members' Business shall be No. 95. By agreement, the proceedings on item No. 95 shall be brought to a conclusion not later than 8.30 p.m. today.

Are the arrangements for the conclusion of item No. 95 agreed?

Agreed.

Perhaps I could ask the Taoiseach, in view of the fact that he was a little petulant on the last occasion on which I raised the matter, if I may approach him very politely and deferentially this morning to ask when we can expect the publication of the Book of Estimates for 1986?

I do not recall being, nor would it be my wish to appear to be, petulant to a Deputy of the House.

Thank you.

I do not accept that interpretation of my demeanour. Having said that, the Book of Estimates will be before the House when it is completed. There is work going on on it at present. As soon as it is ready it will be brought before the House. I cannot at the moment put a precise date on that.

Without wishing to be in any way dissident, could the Taoiseach perhaps, in order that we on this side of the House may have some opportunity of arranging our programme of work, indicate if it will be brought before the House before the Dáil rises for the Christmas recess? That is not a terribly hard question.

It is the intention of the Government to do so.

But will they do it?

It is my desire that the Government's intentions will be fulfilled at all times.

The Taoiseach knows his intentions. It is hard to see one of the Taoiseach's intentions now.

(Interruptions.)
