I am very happy with the response from school committees to the social employment scheme. To date, over 1,300 schools have received approval to employ 1,800 caretakers and secretaries under the scheme. Of these, 356 schools have commenced employing 526 persons. The flow of applications from schools to the National Manpower Service has remained steady.
