asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange for the relevant revenue commissioner to urgently re-examine the VAT rating of a product for a company (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who has been informed in writing on 18-8-83 that the product concerned would be zero rated and who spent £54,000 gearing up for such product, only to be told that the rating given was not correct; and as a further process, i.e. glazing and cooking has to be gone through, if he will ask the commissioner to sympathetically consider the case for zero-rating in the circumstances.

I have asked the Revenue Commissioners to re-examine the VAT rating of the product in question. They have agreed to do so and will be in touch with the company concerned in the course of the next few days.
