asked the Minister for Education the present position in regard to the provision of an extension to a school (details supplied) in County Offaly.

My Department's professional advisers are at present preparing sketch plans for the proposed extension scheme for the County Offaly school referred to. As soon as these plans are available they will be referred to the school authorities for their consideration and approval.

asked the Minister for Education the present position in regard to an application for the provision of additional accommodation at a school (details supplied) in County Offaly.

The school referred to by the Deputy has, at present, four teachers and a special additional assistant catering for a small group of hearing-impaired children. Four classrooms and a general purposes area will be available as soon as a contract for the extension of the building has been completed. The question of additional teaching accommodation for ordinary school purposes will arise only if the enrolments are maintained at a level to warrant the employment and longer term retention of a fifth teacher. The question of accommodation to cater for the hearing-impaired children is being considered separately.
