There are at present 771 personnel of the Permanent Defence Force serving overseas with the United Nations. Of these 742 are serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon — UNIFIL — and are stationed in South Lebanon. Twenty one officers are serving with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation — UNTSO. They are located as follows: Damascus, six: Nahariya (Israel), four; Jerusalem, Tiberias and Cairo, three at each location; Beirut and Gaza, one at each location.
Eight Irish Personnel are serving with the United Nations Force in Cyprus — UNFICYP — at the Force headquarters in Nicosia.
