asked the Minister for Labour the amount of money contributed by each county council throughout the country to AnCO under the statutory demand system for the years 1960, 1970, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - AnCO Levy Grant Schemes.
The objective of the AnCO levy grant schemes is to increase the amount and quality of training in industry and to distribute the costs of training equitably among employers. The construction activities of local authorities are included in the construction industry training grants and levy scheme.
The levy payable by local authorities is based on the wages and salaries of those employed in the county engineer's department (with certain exeptions). The levy grant scheme for the construction industry was introduced in December 1971. Accordingly figures for 1960 and 1970 do not arise. The following tables indicate the amount of levy paid by each local authority in the years 1980 to 1984 inclusive.
