Work on the design of a drainage scheme for the Suir catchment has been suspended following a Government decision to halt all arterial drainage planning pending the outcome of a review of arterial drainage policy. The review, prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works, is under consideration prior to the submission of proposals to the Government. In the circumstances, I cannot say when a scheme for the catchment might commence. The question of EC funding does not arise at this stage.
