The number of persons in receipt of disability benefit on 9 November 1985 was some 77,000. The estimated number of those recipients who were on disability benefit for over ten weeks was 63,000 and the number who were on for a period of less than ten weeks was some 14,000. It should be noted that these figures fluctuate daily and are therefore approximated.
