Vol. 361 No. 11

Written Answers. - Duncannon (Wexford) School.

176.

asked the Minister for Education if she is aware of the overcrowding and unsatisfactory conditions in Duncannon national school, Wexford that the board of management are most concerned about the delay and that the builder will have to lay off men if he does not get the go-ahead, and when the go-ahead will be given for the commencement of the school.

The position is that Duncannon national school, County Wexford, is a four-teacher school with an enrolment marginally in excess of the numbers required to retain the fourth teacher. In the light of this, I have asked my Department's primary branch to review the school's enrolment prospects and accommodation requirements and this review is at present in progress. On the basis of this review a decision will be made as to whether to proceed with the project in its present form and the school's authorities will be notified at the earliest possible date.
