The pupil in question is not eligible for free school transport under the terms of the school transport scheme since he resides less than two miles from his nearest school. The school referred to by the Deputy is not the nearest school to the pupil and it is not open to my Department to provide transport facilities for the pupil, whether free or fare paying, to that school.
