Vol. 362 No. 5

Written Answers. - Park Maintenance Transfer.

77.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is hoped that negotiations will be concluded between the Office of Public Works and Dublin Corporation for the initial taking over and management by the corporation of the Phoenix Park and St. Stephen's Green; and when it is his intention to introduce the necessary legislation to hand over permanently the Phoenix Park and St. Stephen's Green to Dublin Corporation.

The Government have decided to transfer the maintenance of these parks from the Office of Public Works to Dublin Corporation. Negotiations are proceeding between officials of the Office of Public Works and the corporation in the matter. It is not possible at this stage to say when those negotiations will be completed. There is no proposal at present to amend either the Phoenix Park Act or the St. Stephen's Green Act.
