asked the Minister for the Environment if sanction can now be given to the estimate for works submitted by Dublin County Council/Dublin Corporation in March 1984, for the development of the open space at Fettercairn/ Springfield/Whitebrook, Tallaght, County Dublin, having regard to the urgent need for these works including, as they do, the provision of an essential footpath across this open space to serve large numbers of residents of these areas.

A proposal was submitted by Dublin Corporation in June 1984, for major open space development involving 115 acres at an estimated cost of £2.35 million (at March 1984 figures) to serve the areas mentioned. The proposal, which raises certain difficulties in relation to the purpose for which housing capital may properly be used has been the subject of correspondence and discussions with the corporation. I hope to bring the matter to a conclusion in the near future.
