Vol. 362 No. 9

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) School.

175.

asked the Minister for Education if consideration is still being given to the provision of a post-primary school for the Kilnamanagh area of Tallaght, Dublin 24, and if she will make a statement on the matter.

176.

asked the Minister for Education if she is aware of the difficulty pupils from the Springfield/ Belgard area of Tallaght, Dublin 24, are experiencing in securing places for post-primary education due to overcrowding in St. Mark's community school; and if she will now consider granting the request to provide a post-primary school in the Castleview, Kilnamanagh area of Tallaght.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 175 and 176 together.

My Department has no immediate plans for additional post-primary schools in either of the areas to which the Deputy refers. The school accommodation needs of pupils in these areas will be reviewed annually. Such reviews will, however, have to take account of the enrolment outlook for the many new and older schools already established not alone in Tallaght but in Clondalkin, Drimnagh, Walkinstown and Templeogue. There is adequate accommodation in other schools in the neighbourhood for pupils unable to be accommodated at St. Mark's community school.
