Vol. 362 No. 13

Written Answers. - County Limerick AnCO Statistics.

195.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will provide details of the number of people, including young people under the age of 25, from County Limerick who have availed of AnCO courses since Ireland's entry into the EC, and the number of County Limerick participants in AnCO courses who have been successful in finding permanent employment as a result of their AnCO training.

Precise details of the persons trained from County Limerick are not readily available. However, AnCO trained 12,305 persons including young people under 25 years of age in the period 1973 until end November 1985 on its courses organised by its Limerick training centre which in the main serves County Limerick and parts of Counties Clare and Tipperary. In addition, AnCO has organised external training courses in County Limerick. Readily available information on these dates only from 1982 and indicates that 2,028 persons were trained on these courses to date.

The numbers trained above include those trained on AnCO's specific employable skills/mainline courses and others trained on courses providing basic skills e.g. community workshops, traveller workshops and community youth training programme projects. The average placement rate in respect of the specific employable skills/mainline courses run by the Limerick training centre since 1973 is 72 per cent. The average placement of such external training courses in the county since 1982 is 65 per cent.
