The position in relation to County Limerick under the 1985 disadvantaged areas scheme is as follows: (a) to date, 992 applicants for cattle headage have been paid £488,300 and all 22 applicants for sheep headage have been paid £25,900; (b) a further 102 applicants will be paid cattle headage if they can give satisfactory replies to queries raised on their applications; (c) the estimated total cost of the schemes in County Limerick is £564,000; (d) herdowners in the newly designated disadvantaged areas were not eligible for payment of grants under the 1985 schemes.
