Limerick East): Statistics are compiled for the commissioner's annual report on crime on the basis of Garda divisions. The statistics for Roscommon are included in the total for the division of Roscommon-Galway East. However, I am informed by the Garda authorities that the figures set out as follows have been obtained by excluding certain figures not applicable to Roscommon and, while there is a margin of error, they give a reasonably accurate account of the position in respect of County Roscommon. Figures for 1985 are not yet available.

These figures refer to all offences relating to compulsory insurance, and accordingly include, for example, offences of failing to produce a certificate of insurance at a Garda station within the prescribed period of ten days as well as offences of having no insurance.
