My Department has recently replaced Comhairle na nOspidéal as the country's representative body to the Hospital Committee of the European Community. I decided on this change in the arrangements for nominating the Irish representatives to the Hospital Committee on the grounds that a wider representation from this country would be desirable and my Department would be in a better position to determine the composition of the new Irish delegation having regard to the objectives of the committee.
