Vol. 363 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Hospitals' Deficits.

45.

asked the Minister for Health the deficits of (1) St. Laurence's Hospital and (2) Jervis Street Hospital, Dublin, for each of the past three years to the latest available date; and the cutbacks such deficits necessitate in each case.

The latest year for which final figures are available is 1984. As regards St. Laurence's, its expenditure for 1982 and 1983 has been fully recouped by my Department. There was an overrun of £248,514 on the approved allocation level for 1984.

In the case of Jervis Street, its expenditure for 1982 and 1983 has been almost entirely recouped by my Department. The amount due to the hospital in respect of 1983 has not yet been finalised. There was an overrun of £100,053 on the approved allocation level for 1984. The question of the arrangements to be made to deal with the overruns will be discussed with the hospitals at an early date.
