Vol. 363 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Galway Regional Water Supply.

78.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in sanctioning the contract documents for Phase 2 of the Dunmore-Glenamaddy, County Galway regional water supply scheme; if he is aware of the large number of applicants awaiting a water connection; if he will now allocate the necessary funds to this scheme; the date on which sanction will be given; the total amount of money allocated to the scheme; the total amount of grants paid so far; the total number of applicants involved in the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There has been no avoidable delay in the examination of the local authority's proposals for Stage 2 of the Dunmore-Glenamaddy public regional water supply scheme. These proposals and loan finance for the scheme will be further considered on receipt of confirmation from the local authority that the necessary preliminary arrangements have been completed locally. Questions of the payment of grants or of individual applications for connection do not arise in relation to this public scheme; however, the scheme when completed may provide water for group schemes in the area.
